Transferablility of Capital: A Free Market
Bulgaria has a free market mixed economy and open financial markets. There are no legal constraints on the transferability of profits, royalties of fees from Bulgaria, or on the repatriation of investment capital. The Bulgarian Leva is pegged to the Euro and subject to exchange controls by a Currency Board.
Business Incentives
Bulgaria welcomes and encourages foreign investment. Business incentives are, on the whole, available to foreign investors on the same basis as they are to local investors.
Tourism
Bulgaria speaks to the visitor like no other country in Europe. It maintains a magical Old World village charm, combined with majestic mountains, white sandy beaches and a temperate-continental climate.
The number of foreign tourists to Bulgaria for the period January to September 2005 was 1,847,629: the number of foreign tourists to Bulgaria for the period January to September 2006 was 3,668,312. This represents an increase in numbers of 101.48%. The number of Irish tourists to Bulgaria for the period January to September 2005 was 16,810: the number of Irish tourists to Bulgaria for the period January to September 2005 was 52,179. This represents and increase in numbers of 210.41%.
